About
Anna-Maria is a faculty member in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration, Faculty of Social Sciences, HKU, and a wellbeing researcher at the Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.
In addition to these roles, her academic commitment includes service as the Communications Officer at the International Sociological Association (ISA), founded in 1949 under the auspices of UNESCO. Headquartered in Barcelona, the ISA is one of the largest science-focused nonprofit organizations in the world and is a member of the International Science Council, holding NGO consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Anna-Maria has been engaged in education across both university and nonprofit settings since 2015, with notable on-the-ground work in UNHCR-operated refugee camps in Skaramagas, Greece and Ukhiya, Bangladesh. Her research area focuses on holistic well-being in education, education in emergencies, and the right to quality education for refugees. Her research memberships include the ISA Research Committee 04 ‘Sociology of Education’ and the APA Division 15 ‘Educational Psychology’, Division 46 ‘Society for Media Psychology and Technology’.
