Ms WAN Ngai-teck Alice MBus, MPA, MSc(ITE), BSW, RSW
Alice has dedicated her career to a diverse range of fields, including public health, social welfare, and education. She began as a team leader at the Aberdeen Kai-fong Welfare Association (AKA) Social Service Centre, a local organisation renowned for its community networking. Here, she initiated a Social Capital Project, becoming a pioneer in neighbourhood networking in Hong Kong. Her expertise led to a secondment at the Commission on Poverty, where she contributed to poverty policy and district-based studies for the HKSAR Government.
Upon returning to AKA as a senior manageress, Alice oversaw various services, including social enterprise and vocational training. In 2010, she became the Assistant Registrar of “FAMILY: A Jockey Club Initiative for a Harmonious Society” at the School of Public Health, University of Hong Kong. In this role, she led a research team that coordinated with over 200 NGOs and schools to implement impactful public health interventions, extending collaboration and co-creation.
Alice’s leadership earned her the position of Chief Executive at AKA in 2017, where she managed 550 staff and directed operations. In November 2023, she transitioned to Chief Executive Officer at the Connecting Hearts, a platform focused on coordination and collaboration within the social welfare sector, aiming to launch a new chapter in Hong Kong’s social welfare landscape. Alice’s unwavering commitment continues to make a significant impact in social welfare through cross-sector collaboration.
