Bernadette Tsui

Bernadette Tsui is a distinguished leader in the fields of philanthropy, arts, and media, with a career spanning diverse roles. As the former Associate Vice-President (Development & Alumni Affairs) at The University of Hong Kong, she transformed the HKU Foundation into a groundbreaking model for fundraising and authored The City with a Heart, a guide to philanthropy’s transformative potential. For her visionary leadership, she was awarded the 2018 Asia-Pacific Distinguished Service Award by CASE. With a BA and MPhil in drama from HKU, complemented by studies at Sophia University and NYU, Bernadette began her career as a theatre director, pioneering arts and rehabilitation initiatives, including Hong Kong’s first Festival of Arts with the Disabled. She currently teaches philanthropic studies in HKU’s Master in Nonprofit Management program and has held teaching roles at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the China Global Philanthropy Institute. A veteran columnist for the Hong Kong Economic Journal, her multifaceted career also includes radio hosting, TV production, media consulting, and public service on committees for healthcare, urban planning, and the arts. Recently, she has expanded her creative pursuits into film and stage production.
