Chien Man Hung, Elsie

Dr Chien Man Hung, Elsie is a registered social worker with years of experience in clinical practice, service management, teaching and consultancy work. She worked in different service fields to serve various target groups, including children and youth, women, older adults, and persons with intellectual disability. She was dedicated to enhance quality of life for people with intellectual disability through promoting a person-centered approach and implementing service integration. She set up the first social enterprise – Mustard Seed in St. James’ Settlement that provides training and employment opportunity for adults with disability.
Before joining the university, she worked as Deputy Director of Suicide Prevention Services. Elsie was awarded the Harvard Business School Scholarship in the year 2011 and received the training on Strategic Perspective in Non-profit Management. Her research study focuses on Philanthropy and NGO management, especially partnership between private philanthropic foundations and NGO in Hong Kong.
